Amplifies significantly Mar 21, 2009
By Maurice Horowitz

I wear two hearing. My son works at night so we must keep the television low as not to disturb him. My wife can hear the television at a low volume, however I have a problem picking up all the words and sounds. I purchased the Sonic Super Ear Sound Amplifier and it significantly increases the volume of the television. The only downside is that it is very sensitive to sound. You must keep the microphone very still or you will get loud scratching sounds that hurt the ears. What I do is set the sound volume then place the microphone next to me on the sofa and do not touch it unless I have to. The amplifier also picks of all the sounds around you. If there is a conversation in another room the amplifier picks it up and it could be a bit disturbing while I am watching television. It is also a bit harsh if someone is talking directly to you. That said, I think that it is a useful tool for anyone who wants to listen to television or radio without disturbing anyone. I guess if you are really hard of hearing the unit should help you hear conversations without a problem. I recommend the product to anyone whether you have a hearing problem or not.

Works GREAT Mar 13, 2009
By Cosmetic Queen I bought the Sonic Super Ear for my husband, who listens to the T.V. so loud that it gives me a headache and send the pets running! He said that he was able to hear every word of the movie we watched last night, and I had the movie at a volume set for me. The down side is that when I would talk to him, he'd wince and tell me 'not so loud'! It does amplify EVERYTHING. And then there are the wires to deal with....
He said he thinks it's great, all in all we're happy to have it.

waste of money Jul 09, 2009

I bought this to watch TV at a volume that wouldn't disturb other people. Maybe I misread the ads but it does not work in this capacity. It amplifies whatever sound is in the room even breathing, but not the TV. I actually couldn't hear the TV unless I turned the sound up as high as usual. The headphones have a short cord and I couldn't move it closer to the TV to see if that actually helped and they are not comfortable. It has a lot of feedback at times too1 It was a complete waste of money. I live in a remote are of Alaska and it is too expensive to ship back so it is in the box in my closet. Advise people to read specs on another hearing amlifier.

Works Great!!! May 11, 2009

My mother is 91 and has been steadily losing her hearing for a number of years. She is almost totally deaf in one ear and wears a $2500 dollar hearing aid in the other, which helps very little. We have to sit close and talk quite loud for her to hear. Last week I purchased this for her, just in case it might help.
Well, it makes a big difference. When she is sitting at the dinner table with several people around, she is now able to hear most of what is being said without anyone having to raise their voice. She is very pleased and in feeling a lot less isolated than she did previously. Certainly worth the price!

Severe deafness is a hindrance Jan 28, 2009
By Lynne T. Greene MD Supersonic ear personal sound Amplifier
This apparatus performed as specified in the printed specs in the Amazon ad.
Since I wear two hearing aids for my profound deafness, the 50dB addition to my hearing
was inadequate for my needs. Nothing wrong with the supersonic, I'm just too deaf.
