| | Description | Banjo Minnows look so lifelike in the water, it's nearly impossible to tell them apart from the real thing. Looks like a real fish, swims exactly like a real fish, but most importantly it can mimic the spastic action of a wounded dying minnow. Predator fish are genetically programmed to attack and eat crippled or dying minnows. Removing the hook from the back of the minnow and placing it in the mouth allows the minnow to wriggle and wiggle naturally as it swims through the water--sideways, up and down and all over the place! Neutral Buoyancy means the minnow neither floats to the surface nor sinks to the bottom. Catch the Big One instructional DVD will show you special techniques that trigger strikes.

Awesome... Oct 05, 2010
By Dorkus I was a bit skeptical about this product from the get-go, seeing it on a number of infomercials and just assuming it was one of those "as seen on TV" products that are more gimmick than anything. I could not have been more wrong.
First off, the lures look amazing in the water. I mean, they look more like actual bait fish than some of the minnows I troll with. There are several different colors, sizes and patterns to the lures, and it is easy to find one that resembles the bait fish in your area.
Fishing with the lures is a blast. You have a lot of control as to where the lure goes, and can fish in tight structure without worrying about snags very often due to the way you work the lure. It is not a cast and reel lure; you toss it, let it drop, then give it a little tug and let it drop and WHAM! you have a fish.
It certainly took a little getting used to, because the strike happens when you let go of the tension on the line, so it is a little tough to feel the strike at first.
The system comes with specialized hooks, anti-snag/weedless rubber bands for the hooks and eyelets that connect the lure to the hook. That right there is the only real con to this system, the eyes. You only get about 6 of them, so basically once you lose six lures, you have to go and purchase more eyes even though you have another 20 plastic fish. Without the eyes, the system is pretty much useless.
Personally, I would suggest to the seller to include extra eyes with the purchase increasing the price accordingly.
On my last trip to the BWCAW, I was the one providing dinner while the rest of the crew fumbled around with spoons, crankbaits, spinnners and poppers to no avail.

the truth Apr 18, 2011
By adwizard I purchased this fishing system over 10 years ago. The original Banjo Minnow. Now the true story. There's a small pond up the road from where I live. I tried one of my banjo minnows for the very first time. On my VERY FIRST CAST I caught a small northern pike. I was dumbfounded. It actually worked. Now the rest of the story... didn't catch another thing for the rest of the entire day. Go figure!

Decent Plastic Lures Jul 06, 2011
By XXXXXX The Banjo Minnow "System" is a great addition to the freshwater tackle box. It looks pretty realistic, and comes with a wide variety of colors and sizes. I had seen the infomercials a couple years ago and have always wondered whether or not it was just another useless piece of crap or the real deal. Being that it was on an infomercial and that no professional angler that I'm aware of endorses it, I was a little skeptical. But I decided to buy it. I took it to the lake and at first I just practiced moving the bait in an authentic way that would look intriguing to the big fish. The only false advertising that I discovered was that its not that easy to make the bait move and dart realistically. I practiced for a good hour and a half, and it was on its way to looking like a real life minnow but not quite there. I'm sure if I dedicated more time then I could have got better swimming motions down. Through out the course of my practice I actually got a couple of bites. I was even able to land a large bluegill and a 11' smallmouth. I guess my practicing was good enough to lure some of them out. If your on the fence with this product, like I was for a couple of weeks, just make the investment and buy a tackle tray to put the kit in it. It is well worth it and it pays itself off in fun times on the water and many hook sets. I live in San Diego and had always been worried about freshwater fishing since I am more accustomed to ocean fishing but this kit certainly made me more confident in my efforts for lake fishing. Definitely one of the best lure purchases I have made in a long time. Its as necessary in your freshwater tackle box as Zoom Trick Worms are.

Don't waste your money Jul 28, 2011
By John P Theis I bough the banjo minnow kit 006 and I have gone fishing with it 3 times, I watched the DVD video several times and got the technics down pat. I have not had any hits on my rod while fishing with this banjo kit. I have fished in some of the best fishing spots in maryland, while everyone else is using swim baits and fake worms they are catching bass all around me while I keep trying with this non-sense Banjo crap.I guess what they fail to mention is that the video shows them in a controlled enviroment and they edit the video showing the same catch over and over in difference frames. I want wayne him self to come here to maryland take my rod with his product and catch a bass out of loch raven or liberty reservoir, I will give him $100.00. This Product is a joke the only product that I was successful with was The KickTail XL-5's as soon as I placed this lure in the water it was as if the fish was expecting it bam they hit, there were times that I saw 2 bass striking at it at a time. Dont fall for this banjo minnow kit its terrible. I will sell you mine back if you want to waste your money.
Not worth the effort Jan 15, 2012
By Ok.Frank I have watched the video time and time again thinking I was missing something. I have tried to use the Banjo Minnow several times and have never even had a nibble. I have fished the same area using the Banjo and then spinners, worms or some other lure. Banjo is the only one I have never caught anything on. I hate to waste money, so I will keep trying it, very rarely, but hoping to see a hit.
